Wildblood
by Kevan Manwaring
There is an animal inside all of us - and sometimes it comes out!
These two poems explore the negotiable territories of the human and the animal, and what happens when the two meet. Roebuck in a Thicket looks at a charged moment when man encounters the wild on its own terms. Wolf in the City explores what happens when the wild comes into the city. Can common ground be found? Can the two peacefully co-exist? Can we deny our true animal selves, and if we do - does something inside of us die? Can there be true Civilisation without Nature?
